Smart Specs, Alloa, owner Anne-Marie Macklin is delighted to announce that Kellyann Cameron has been awarded Muir Slicer Associates Ltd, one of Glasgow’s foremost training and development companies, “Apprentice of the Year 2013.”

This is in recognition of the hard work Kellyann has put into studying for a City & Guilds qualification in Level 3 Retail Management.  This apprenticeship should have taken 9 months but Kellyann managed to work through the course within 10 weeks.

Kellyann said "I have only worked at Smart Specs just over a year and feel that I have achieved so much in
a short period of time. I have already become Trainee Manager and look forward to my career growing with Smart Specs.”

Kellyann was also been nominated as “Young Achiever of the Year 2013” with the Scottish Training Federation and is one of only 3 finalists from all over Scotland who attended an award ceremony on Tuesday 24th September at Crieff Hydro, where she was runner up.

First Clacks retailer awarded Trading Standards "Buy With Confidence" accreditation
BWC

Smart Specs at 45 High Street Alloa is the first retailer in Clackmannanshire and Stirling to be accredited to the new "Buy With Confidence" scheme introduced recently by the joint council’s Trading Standards Service.

The scheme has been introduced with the aim of avoiding consumers being ripped off by rogue traders. The scheme provides a list of local businesses, all of whom have been independently checked by staff from Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils Joint Trading Standards Service to ensure they meet with the scheme rules.

Councillor Donald Balsillie, Convener of Clackmannanshire Council's Enterprise and Environment Committee, said: "We are delighted to have awarded Smart Specs with the Buy With Confidence Accreditation, and that they are the first retailer in Clackmannanshire and Stirling to have achieved this.
"They went through a rigerous investigation by our Trading Standards and came out with flying colours. I hope that they will encourage many more retailers to follow in their footsteps."

Anne-Marie Macklin owner of Smart Specs Optical Dispensary said "We were very pleased to be the first retailer in the area to be accredited following a thorough audit of our business practices and contact being made independently by Trading Standards with several of our customers. Since we opened in the high street in June 2011 we have striven to provide the highest level of customer care."
Anne-Marie continued "The Buy With Confidence scheme will enhance our policy of providing superb quality and vast savings on spectacles when customers present their up to date opticians prescription."
